Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy (SLO)

Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy (SLO) is a painful disorder of the nailbed causing toenails to fall off. Usually more than two paws are involved and, eventually can include all toenails. SLO is thought to be immune mediated. The onset is usually quite sudden with toenails that just drop off or nails that are soft, friable, or hollow.

Treatment consists of omega fatty acids, tetracycline and niacinamide. Improvement generally takes a couple of months.
